Granite Belt, Queensland Multi-award winning family business Gluten free and made "with love" in small batches
After almost 30 years on the land, first on Kangaroo Island, South Australia and then near Esperance, Western Australia, in 1994, the Stirling family found a new challenge in growing berries at “The Bramble Patch” just outside of Stanthorpe, Queensland, right in the heart of the Granite Belt.
Initially they sent all the fresh berries to the Brisbane market as they could soon see a gap in the emerging tourism industry. Visitors were looking for alternate attractions to the many wineries and as a trial, along with the berries sold from the farm gate, they began to sell a small range of handmade jams and sauces.
I guess you could say the rest is history! The Bramble Patch now boasts a range of over 50 different gourmet products, including the original jams and sauces, but now extending to jellies, marmalades, coulis, chutney’s, pickles, relishes, pastes, vinegars and fortified wines, all manufactured in their on-site factory, using berries from the farm, as well as an abundant array of other fruits and vegetables, sourced from the local Granite Belt area wherever possible.
The farm “shed” has undergone several transformations since the beginning, the latest being in 2009, with a brand new tasting/show room and extensions to seat up to 60 people inside, all opening up onto manicured gardens where our visitors can enjoy a delicious treat from our “Dessertery”, including freshly made berry ice-creams, sorbet, sundaes, waffles and, during Winter, our fresh blackberry & apple pies. |
