Byron Bay Hinterland, New South Wales Multi-award winning coffees Australian grown employing sustainable practices Herbicide and insecticide free
Hills of Byron are a multi award winning, Australian gown and plantation roasted coffee from the hinterland of Byron Bay, NSW. They are a family owned and operated business dedicated to growing and roasting fine quality Arabica coffee using sustainable farming practices. As one of Australia's emerging new breed of Australian coffees, Hills of Byron delivers the richness of flavour and aroma, which discerning customers can purchase for their own enjoyment, or as gifts for friends and family. The Hills of Byron range includes Whole Bean, Whole Bean ORGANIC, Plunger/Filter and Espresso.
Freshness is paramount at Hills of Byron. Coffee does not have a long shelf life and can lose its subtleties in just a few weeks - quicker if exposed to light, heat and most of all, oxygen. Hills of Byron meets this challenge with a combination of smaller roasting batch sizes and specially designed packaging.
What do the experts say? Well at the Australasian Specialty Coffee Association blind tasting the judges said “the coffee has a good sweet aroma with hints of pleasant strong toasty fragrance and mix of molasses or honey…Mild acidity in the cup, which would suit espresso. Well balanced throughout the cooling process. Very nice aftertaste with chocolate hints. No bitterness present at all during the tasting. A good well balanced coffee."
As well as a swag of bronze medals since starting back in 2005, they have now added SILVER to the trophy cabinet. At the 2010 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show, the plunger coffee won a SILVER medal for 100% Australian Single Origin Coffee. This same coffee also picked up a SILVER medal at the 2010 Royal Agricultural Society of Tasmania Show and the espresso won a SILVER medal at the 2010 Golden Bean Competition. Most recently at the 2011 Sydney Fine Food Show they picked up two SILVER medals for their Espresso and Plunger Coffee. |
