In early 2006 it all began when Colleen and Peter built a traditional wood fired oven in their backyard at Cobdogla, in South Australia’s key food and wine region, the Riverland. They began experimenting with the new oven, using the best ingredients the Riverland had to offer as flavourings for their bread and through this Backyard Bread was born. 

 

Today, Backyard Bread has developed into an innovative range of delicious, handmade gourmet breads, gently sliced into bite sized pieces and baked until crunchy. They make a superb accompaniment to dips, on cheese and antipasto platters and as a base for hors d'oeuves. Also from Backyard Bread, a tasty range of handmade gourmet spreads, the perfect partner to a variety of meats, cheese and of course their bread bites.

 

At Backyard Bread the aim has always been to develop a gourmet product that would compliment their region’s fine wines, while supporting local growers and producers.  The naturally flavoured bread bites showcase the diverse flavours of the ingredients gathered from throughout the region and they are proud to be part of an exciting food and wine industry.

 

The Backyard Bread is truly artisan and baked in small batches using fresh, locally grown, high quality fruit and vegetables. The unbleached, wholemeal and rye flour they use are both healthier alternatives and flavour enhancers. What makes them even more special is that they are baked and packaged fresh as soon as they receive eFarmersMarket's order. 

 

The products are all natural without any artificial preservatives, colours or flavours.
